Hands-on BI software demonstrations - Brisbane

Oracle OLAP Option and Warehouse Builder, and Oracle BI Standard Edition One

In late November, Advantage BI Consulting - a Brisbane-based Oracle partner, will be running some hands-on workshops in the Oracle Education (Brisbane) training centre that showcase the features and benefits of Oracle's Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing solutions. The workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about Oracle's BI solutions in an interactive setting. The Oracle Business Intelligence software that will be demonstrated on different days includes:

1. Oracle EE Database (incl OLAP and Warehouse Builder) for Data Warehousing; and

2. Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition One (BI Server, BI Answers, BI Interactive Dashboards, BI Publisher, SE Database, and Warehouse Builder).

The workshops will be run by Cameron Hawthorne. Cameron is the Principal Consultant for Advantage BI Consulting, an Oracle partner specializing in the application of Business Intelligence software to solve information problems. He has been designing, building, and supporting Oracle BI solutions since 1990 for organisations in Australia and Europe. A long time advocate for data warehousing, OLAP, and BI technology, he has presented papers to user group conferences since 1999, and has been a part-time instructor for Oracle Education in Brisbane since 2004.

Presentation 2 - Developing an Oracle BI Roadmap

Oracle provides several Business Intelligence solutions to help organisations make timely and informed decisions. The recent acquisition and integration of several leading software vendors (Hyperion, Sunopsis, Siebel), and the continued investment and development in existing products (Discoverer, Warehouse Builder), has made it difficult for organisations to figure out which path to take when putting their information strategy together.

This presentation will use a case-study to discuss an approach for developing a technology "roadmap" for organisations considering their options.
